Neighbourhoods in China
Networks in China are like ripples in water, ego-centric, extending in social circles. This is a metaphor for Chinese collectivism.
For young people in their 20s, the traditional modes of neighbourhood are similar. People lived in staff residential zones because they share common work or social relations.
Xiong:
We were like families
" I lived in school staff buildings for 11years, growing up with children of other staffs like my parents. We were so close, in a relaxed, warm atmosphere. People took care of each other, like a big family.
Years later, we all moved to other buildings. And I know that our life tracks will not meet again.”
